What is the harm of prebaked anode oxidation slag and crack fall-block?

During the operation of the electrolytic cell, carbon residue and fragments are continuously produced around the bottom of the anode carbon block. This will not only increase the carbon consumption, but also suspended in the electrolyte carbon slag fragments will undermine the normal production of electrolytic aluminum technical conditions, seriously endanger the normal production of aluminum electrolysis, and even lead to accident stop slot.

The harm of prebaked oxidation slag and crack fall-block mainly includes the following aspects :

(1)Changes in the conductivity of the electrolyte, thus affecting the normal operation of aluminum electrolysis production；

(2)The electrolyte heats up, creating a "hot tank". The accumulation of carbon residue, the increase of electrolyte resistance, the increase of tank voltage, the increase of heat income, gradually lead to "hot tank", resulting in a decrease of current efficiency, power consumption, carbon consumption and fluorine salt unit consumption.

(3) Increased workload and economic loss from salvaging carbon residue. In order to keep the electrolyzer running smoothly, it is necessary to open the electrolyte crust and continuously salvage the carbon residue and carbon anode pieces from the electrolyte at a high temperature of 1000°C. The salvaged carbon residue contains about 70% electrolyte, which not only increases carbon and fluorine salt consumption, but also increases heat and labor losses.

(4)  Bags on anode and side leakage. The carbon residue and the anode pieces will gather together, and when they gather at the side, the current will leak along the anode-collected residue pieces to the side, making it difficult to form the furnace hearth. When the anode is gathered at the bottom, the anode will grow bags, which will seriously worsen the technical condition of the electrolytic cell, create a very difficult to diseased cell, and even cause slot leakage.
